Heavy-duty #3 mild steel woven mesh with 7.467mm aperture and 1mm wire. With 78% open area, it’s ideal for coarse screening, guarding, and structural work. Strong, rigid, and easy to work with, this mesh suits industrial, construction, and agricultural applications requiring maximum strength and openness.
Our #3 woven wire mesh, made from plain mild steel, is a heavy-duty mesh with a large 7.467mm aperture and a robust 1mm wire diameter, delivering exceptional strength and openness. With a 78% open area and a weight of 1.5 kg per square metre, this mesh offers one of the most open and structurally reliable options in our woven range. The coarse 3 holes per inch configuration is ideal for applications that require maximum airflow, visibility, or drainage, while still providing a tough physical barrier or support layer.
The thick wire diameter ensures the mesh holds its shape well under pressure, making it suitable for demanding industrial, construction, or agricultural use. Its plain mild steel composition allows for easy cutting, bending, and welding, and it’s particularly suited to environments where the mesh will be coated, painted, or galvanised to prevent corrosion. In untreated form, it is best used indoors or in dry environments.
This mesh is widely used in machine guards, fencing panels, heavy-duty drying trays, screening systems, gravel sifters, agricultural processing units, and protective enclosures for animals or equipment. The large openings make it ideal for separating larger debris or bulk materials while still maintaining a solid and dependable structure. The mesh is also favoured in building works where reinforcement, ventilation, or custom framework is needed.
Its combination of high tensile strength and wide aperture makes this mesh especially suitable for support structures, partition walls, ventilation covers, and custom fabrications. For welders and metalworkers, it’s an excellent material for building frames, grills, or protective cages that must endure frequent use or impact.
Wire mesh materials are also available in brass, copper, galvanised steel and blue PVC.
