#20 mild steel mesh with a 0.91mm aperture and 0.36mm wire. With 51% open area and medium weight, it’s ideal for filtration, guarding, and screening tasks. Easy to cut and weld, this versatile mesh is used in workshops, machinery, vents, and custom fabrication jobs.
Our #20 woven wire mesh, manufactured from plain mild steel, features a 0.91mm aperture and a 0.36mm wire diameter, making it a reliable and practical choice for medium-fine screening, filtration, and protective applications. With a 51% open area and a weight of 1.30 kg per square metre, this mesh offers a strong balance of airflow, visibility, and structural support. The 20 holes per inch weave creates a fine yet durable pattern, ideal for capturing small particles or preventing unwanted materials from passing through, while still allowing air or fluid movement where required.
This mesh is widely used in industries such as agriculture, engineering, HVAC, fabrication, and manufacturing, where both fine filtration and mesh strength are important. The plain mild steel material provides good workability and excellent weldability, making it a favourite for custom projects, workshop installations, and built-in systems. It’s especially suited for internal or low-moisture applications or those where the mesh will be painted, powder-coated, or galvanised after installation for long-term protection.
Common applications include ventilation grilles, small animal enclosures, fine sieves, dust protection, machine guards, and custom filter supports. It can be cut, shaped, and welded easily with standard tools, and once fixed in place, the mesh offers a sturdy barrier or screening surface that resists distortion during regular use.
Because of its moderate wire thickness and controlled aperture size, this #20 mesh performs well in environments where medium-fine debris needs to be filtered or screened out, such as in material processing lines, protective layers over vents or intakes, or as a reinforcement mesh in layered systems. It’s also suitable for creative or craft applications where a finer mesh with structure is needed.
Wire mesh materials are also available in brass, copper, galvanised steel and blue PVC.
